Vinyl Decals!

August 26th, 2010 by Jackie | No Comments | Filed in Blog, Vinyl Decals

One service that we provide (and we admittedly don’t advertise too hardcore on the site yet — it’s on my to-do list!) is custom and pre-made vinyl appliques. Brent and I recently purchased a vinyl cutter and started creating geeky designs that appealed to us with the hopes of making a couple extra bucks that would help keep our small press publishing company running smoothly. The process of creating these designs has been hilarious, to say the least, and we saw a boom in business soon after opening our Etsy Shop.

So, if you’re coming in from Etsy: Welcome to the blog!

Here’s some Q&A regarding our vinyl appliques that we hope you’ll find helpful:

Q: Do you accept custom orders?

A: Yes! Just get a hold of me and let me know what you’re looking for. We’ll work something out.

Q: Are your vinyl appliques weatherproof?

A: Yes, as far as we can tell. We have a couple of our products on our jeep, and they’ve been holding up remarkably well through torrential winds, pounding rain and blistering heat. We’ll get back to you on snow and blizzards, since we only just got the thing during the summer ;) (we predict that snow will be no problem for the decals)

Q: Are the decals repositionable?

A: No. The vinyl we use is pretty stretchy and soft, so we strongly recommend pre-positioning your decal before applying it to your surface of choice. Repositioning smaller pieces is not impossible, but doing so is a great big pain in the ass.

Q: Will the vinyl damage whatever surface I put it on?

A: Not as long as you apply your decal according to the instructions provided.

Q: What colors of vinyl do you have available?

A: Check out our color swatches. Please keep in mind that colors may be slightly different on your monitor than in real life, but they should be pretty close.

Q: Ew, those colors suck. Do you have any complex colors in stock? Periwinkle or chartreuse, perhaps?

A: At the moment, we only offer decals in the basic colors provided in our swatch. It’s probably going to stay that way until we make enough sales to actually pay for the fancy colors, ’cause they are expeeeeensive.

Q: I have a suggestion for a vinyl decal design you can put in your store! Where do I share my awesome idea with you?

A: Leave a comment, or send me an email! We’re always open to new ideas :D

In Fall of 2009, Lovesick Robot Press attended the Alternative Press Expo and came back with a brand new rolodex full of awesome new friends, colleagues, peers and acquaintances. They were all outstanding individuals who were awesome to exhibit with in San Francisco, so they decided to make them something special to show their gratitude.
